This is why I tell people not to keep their tamper on top of the espresso machine.
How is that even possible? Is it coming through the cup tray on the GB5?
Yes, tiny deposits of grinds on the tamper piston fall through the cup tray, which is perforated. There is actually two layers, the lid and the tray panels. A couple grounds here and there falling through the holes of both layers, plus a couple years of accumulation equals a hot mess.
